Mission design: like I said, I've only played the first mission and the initial tutorial, and was expecting more open ended-ness, more ways to go about your task, but all I found were air vents and the occasional hacking. Also, not a fan of the character design either: lots of "futuristic" clothing, repetitive and very ugly NPCs, etc. In the first two missions of the game (the intro and a proper mission) the places feel so generic, uninspired and bland, like the typical, basic, futuristic look I've seen on so many games (Mass Effect, Syndicate, Mirror's Edge, Prey) and does nothing to keep me invested in the game or its environmental storytelling. I've been considering wether to continue with the game, quit playing and get the original version or just give up on it altogether, because aside from Director's Cut specific issues, I also really disliked some aspects of the game early on: Also, that signature yellow filter is gone, which I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing.

I realize now that was most likely a mistake, since the frame rate is absolutely terrible on PC and I've read that there's a DLC included in the main game that breaks the pacing of the latter stages completely. So, I had my hopes up for this game and got the Director's Cut. Lately I've been trying to avoid linear mindless shooters and opt for more open ended experiences that generally let you play at your own pace and style. I love immersive sims like Dishonored (it's one of my favorite games ever) and I'd seen it compared to HR a couple times.
